Khaled Talib

Khaled Talib

Location: Singapore

Question: How long have you been writing?
I have been writing since I was a boy, imbued with imagination by stories like The Count of Monte Cristo, Homer’s lliad and Dr. Jekyll and Mr.Hyde. In fact, I recently visited Troy in Turkey to get a feel of the history. There’s nothing much left of the place, and don’t be surprised if you see lots of stray cats.

Question: What was the name of the first book you ever published, and when was it published?
The Little Book of Muses. It was published July 2013. It contains inspirational phrases for writers.

Question: Was this book published by a publisher; or did you self-publish?
The book was self-published.

Question: Tell our readers about this very first book.  (For example:  What was the inspiration for writing it, and what was it about)?

The Little Book of Muses is sold on Amazon as an e-book. It is an inspiring read to influence daily writings and enriching one’s work — a good-feel guide to make a writer feel passionate and motivated about the craft.

Some of the phrases will tickle your funny bone while others offer nuggets of wisdom condensed into a few lines.

I used to sit for hours at a café alone with my mind lost in space crafting phrases in my head. I decided one day to compile these phrases and publish an e-book.

Question: Can a person still buy this book?  If so, where?

The Little Book of Muses by Khaled Talib is available on Amazon.

Question: How many total books have you published?
One.

Question: Any future writing projects in the works?  If so, tell us about it, and any pertinent dates to go with it.

I am working on my next collection of phrases. I don’t have a title for it yet, but writers can expect fresh phrases to inspire their craft. I am also working on my second thriller novel.

Question: What is the title of your current book, and tell us a little about it.

Smokescreen. This spy thriller ushers us into a world of global intrigue and sinister, far-reaching alliances between the US, Israel, and Singapore.
Set amid the glittering skyscrapers of Singapore’s Raffles City and the opium dens of Chinatown, the novel introduces us to Jethro Westrope, a Singaporean journalist who writes for a magazine, and who hobnobs with the city’s elite.
West stumbles onto the scene of a murder: the beautiful Niki Kishwani directs him, in her last breath, to a digital recorder, evidence that puts Jet’s life in serious danger. And much worse — he is framed for Niki’s murder by Chan Boon Seng, chief protocol officer of the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and tracked by Chan’s assassin for hire.

Last question, if someone comes across this article and reads it, what would you like to tell them about why you think they should try reading your book or books? (Basically, what can you offer them in the way of information or entertainment)?

If you are a writer, you will be able to relate to The Little Book of Muses. You will probably be saying, “Hey, that’s true – I do that or do this.”
As for the thriller, Smokescreen, most people are not aware that Singapore and Israel have had a longstanding secret relationship which goes back 47 years. So you can expect an edgy, dark and intense read that will keep you riveted to your chair.

Anything else you'd like to add that I didn't ask you, but you would like to share with our readers?  (Optional)

Smokescreen has been acquired by a traditional publisher. The book is scheduled to be launched on January 2013.
