Karen Wodke and PJ Hawkinson

Writing under the name: (Wodke Hawkinson)

Location: Kansas / USA

Question: How long have you been writing?

We first wrote together at the age of 16, but that was just for fun. We have now been writing together since 2009'.

Question: What was the name of the first book you ever published, and when was it published?

"Catch Her in the Rye", Short Story Volume One was our first short story book; our first novel was "Betrayed".

Question: Was this book published by a publisher; or did you self-publish?

All of our books are self-published with the exception of "Tangerine".

Question: Tell our readers about this very first book.  (For example:  What was the inspiration for writing it, and what was it about)?

"Betrayed" started life as A Little Piece of Heaven, and was going to be about a woman who became lost in the Colorado forest and found a spot she was able to survive in until found. Later, she would build a home there. But, before we knew it, the plot evolved and she had been carjacked and became a victim of abuse at the hands of three brutal men. She did escape into the Colorado forest, but was found by a recluse who helped her regain her health and sanity. The original title of the book didn’t fit anymore and we changed it to Betrayed.

Question: Can a person still buy this book?  If so, where?

Yes. All of our books are available online at Amazon, Smashwords, and Barnes & Noble.

Question: How many total books have you published?

We have published three short story volumes, four novels, one alternate ending, and most recently combined Betrayed & Betrayed Alternate Ending into one publication for the convenience of readers who want to read both versions.  They are still available separately as well. We also have four short story singles available.

Question: List all of your titles with Amazon links:

Catch Her in the Rye (Selected Short Stories Volume One)

Blue  (Selected Short Stories Volume Two)

Alone (Selected Short Stories Volume Three)

Ghost Writer (a short story)

Troll        (a short story)

Acim         (a short story)

Misery Loves Company (a short story)

Question: Any future writing projects in the works?  If so, tell us about it, and any pertinent dates to go with it.

We are currently working on a novel about a young woman’s search for her ex-boyfriend who has disappeared. We also have, in progress, a fantasy with soft sci-fi elements that is set on another planet. We hope to have the first done by October 2013' and the second by next January.

Question: What is the title of your current book, and tell us a little about it.

We don’t wish to disclose the titles of our upcoming works at this time; we’re keeping those secret for now.

Last question, if someone comes across this article and reads it, what would you like to tell them about why you think they should try reading your book or books? (Basically, what can you offer them in the way of information or entertainment)?

We feel that fiction should be, above all else, entertaining, and carry readers into a different world, or introduce them to a unique set of circumstances. In our novels, we like to present our main characters with a challenge or dilemma to overcome.

Anything else you'd like to add that I didn't ask you, but you would like to share with our readers?
